Willard Bay

We took our new toy to Willard Bay and camped for four days. It is a nice campground but too close to the freeway and very noisy. If we keep the vents in our trailer closed, it's not too bad. The water there is really nice and warm. It would be a good place to go for a family reunion. The kids would love to swim there in the warm water. We saw some pelicans there. And the sunset was beautiful.

Our new trailer is so nice. We have queen bed that is comfy. We have a full sized shower and even a shower on the outside to shower off when people need to shower after swimming. It has a microwave and central air and heating. You can set the water heater to electric or gas and fridge as well. You can do this with a flip of a switch. No lighting anything. The stove has an electric start so you don't have to light it. The trailer has a slide out which operates with a flip of a switch and an awning that works that way too. It also came with a flat screen HD TV and DVD player and radio. There are hookups in the bedroom too for a TV. So we can have two TVS.

We went to visit Monica and Jay and then the next day we went to The Golden Spike Monument. We watched a film there on how the railroad came together at Promontory Point. We were going to go see the locomotives but our Suburban would not start. We had to get a jump and we went back to the campground and then it would not start as soon as we turned it off. It had a brand new battery. After we got home, we took it to have the battery checked and it was fine. The only thing we could think of was the battery cables were bad. We took it to Murdock Hyundai and had all new battery cables put in and the oil changes and new belts. But Matt found out that the water pump was failing and so we had to replace it. He also fixed the trailer brakes which were put in wrong by Gene Harvey Chevrolet. All in all, was spent a lot of money getting it fixed. We know that we saved a lot though by having Matt fix it. We do appreciate him. The Suburban works fine now. We are planning a trip to Zion's Park the end of this month.

Our hobby is expensive but it is worth it. Life is good. You only live once.

Celebration

This past weekend, three of my four daughters, Tina, Monica and Tammy and I and my granddaughter Lacey went out out to celebrate Tina's birthday and Mother's Day. We had a great time at the Desert Star Theater seeing AMERICAN FORK IDOL. We then went to Mimis' to eat. We enjoyed conversing and catching up. I also had a great Mother's Day the next day. I got to have a BBQ with some of my family and I got some great Mother's Day gifts. Thanks to all who made it such a wonderful day!

Dolls and Nosalgia

I guess I take after my mom. I like to collect dolls and other cute things. I know I have no need for them, but it's fun. In the 50's there were some dolls from the Terri Lee family and every little or big girl wanted one. The main doll, Teri Lee herself, was created by a woman in Apple Valley CA. She was a sculptress and an artist. She created the dolls using a special kind of plastic. She painted their features. My cousin Phyllis had one first. She was so pretty that I wanted one too. You could buy lots of clothes for Terri Lee. My aunt Bernice, Phyllis' mother, made clothes as well and for a lot less. Teri Lee at that time was around $15 to buy which was a lot for a doll in those days. I wanted one so bad. One Christmas when I was around 9 or 10, I got one. She was dressed in a Scottish outfit and had blonde hair. She was like the one at the top. My aunt Bernice had made clothes for her. I loved her so much. I made the mistake of letting my girls play with her after I was married. She got ruined and I guess thrown out with the trash. Today she would be worth a lot on e-Bay. I looked on -eBay and found some authetic ones for sale at a large amount of money. Then I found a replica or Terri Lee on the Target web site. So I puchased two of them for $20 each. I have included photos of the replicas and photos of the vintage ones from e-Bay.

On the photos below you will see some of my dolls that I collect and the comic books I also used to subscribe to. Terri Lee even had her own magazine at one time. I want to get some clothes for Terri Lee and there are some on e-bay. Maybe I can talk Tammy into making me some. She is a good seamstress.I used to just love Little Lulu and Tubby. I had an original Lulu doll in the 50's and I subscribed to the comic book. I now have another Lulu doll which my honey got for me for my birthday and a small Tubby and Lulu doll that Marty and Cherise got for me.
I also loved Nancy and Sluggo from the comic books. It's good thing Tina made me a pair because I couldn't find anywhere to purchse them. So call me crazy. I just love to collect dolls and other items I have purchased from places I have visited.
