January Birthdays

This month I counted 4 people who have birthdays this month. I hope I have not forgotten anyone.

January 1st: Felicia 28

Januray 11: Yours Truly 65

January 25: Charlie 40

January 29: Savannah 5

It's hard to believe that I have a granddaughter as old as my son. And Savannah was just a newborn when I lost my Alex. He would have really loved knowing her and she would have loved him. But it was not to be. I hope he can see her from heaven.

So All of You Have a Wonderful Birthday and I hope there are Many More

New Goal

I will start the diet plan on Monday. I will also supplement my diet with Alli, and FDA approved drug for losing weight. Alli is not an appetite suppressant. It is a drug that causes fat not to be absorbed in your body. It teaches you how to eat better. If you eat fat after you have taken Alli, you will have to go to the bathroom more often to get the fat out of your system. It can cause gas too if you do not follow the directions. If you eat right you will not have a problem with your digestion. Alli works two ways: First it doesn't let fat be absorbed and Second: It keeps you from eating fattening foods because you don't want those indigestion problems. So I will see how it works for me. I may not be able to tolerate it but I am going to try. Alli used to only be available as a prescription drug. But now it is available OTC in a milder strength.

The NutraSystem plan also gives me recipes and what kinds of food I should eat when eating out. My goal is to lose 40 or 50 pounds.

Oh to Sleep or Purchance to Dream

Yesterday I went to the sleep expert Dr. The results of my oxygen blood test while sleeping came back as mild to moderate for low oxygen in my blood when I am asleep. I did have a cold at the time the test was taken and part of the problem could have been caused by that.

Anyway, the Dr. said I could go in for an overnight sleep study if I wanted but I haven't had any daytime sleepiness so I am probably ok for now. I do have a slightly large tongue and nothing can be done about that. He wants me to lose weight and exercise more which I am starting a NutraSystems diet next week in addition to some Alli pills, and I am excersizing most days on the exercise bike. Wish me luck to be able to lose 40 or 50 pounds. I will see the Dr. in three months and he wants me to lose 15 lbs by that time. My metabolism is very low because I have very little mucsle so even when I eat almost nothing, I don't burn much fat. I need to increase my mucsle tone in my body. Also, I have lost an inch in height, I am now 5 ft 4 instead of 5 ft 5. Randy has lost 2 inches in his height. So much for growing old.

I have been sleeping with a vaporiser on as well as a humidifier. One reason I snore is because of nasal swelling and dryness.

Today I am thankful I have food to sustain me and heat to warm me from the winter cold.

Well.....We Shall See

Today I ordered Nutri-system and it will arrive in a few days. I also ordered Alli diet pills. I am sick of being overweight. I can't seem to lose any but I don't gain any either. I am pretty much the same all the time. But I need to lose 40 or 50 lbs.

I hope it works. But if it does, I will have to buy all new clothes.

Today I am thankful for my body that the Lord has given to me. I may be fat and out of shape but I have eyes to see: ears to hear: Legs to Walk and I am blessed that I can still go out and enjoy this world I live in.

WOW: A Grandmother Again I Guess!!

Got the news this morning that Matt and Kelly are expecting their fourth child. Man are they going to be busy. Let's hope they have a son so maybe they can quit. I worry about their health and the bad economy these days. I am sure I will love the baby very much and the it (he?) will be really cute.

Anyway I am happy for them and glad it's not me.

Winter

Can I say that I don't like winter at all!! But I know we need the moisture for the summer to come. Sometimes I wish I could hibernate through the long and dreary days. Think of the money that could be saved on food and utilities!!

So today I guess I am thankful for the winter and the moisture that we receive. Even though I complain, I know we would be hard pressed to be without winter.

Right now we are in an inversion and the air is not healthy. It's harder to breath and really ugly except when the fog freezes on the trees and then it looks like a real fairyland. You can always find something good in bad situations. Like the sunsets are so much more magnificent when the air is bad and the moon really looks cool during the inversion. So there you go: I found something good about this ugly winter and foggy weather.

Walking With Dinosaurs

Randy and I went to see the production yesterday. It was great with all the sounds and real life size dinosaurs that roared. Lots of tropical backgrounds and volcanoes. Truly something amazing but quite pricey. Some little kids were scared but most really loved it. The people on the front row really got a close view and dinosaur roars right in the face. This was done by the BBC who did series on TV. It was historical as well as entertaining.

After that we went to eat at Little America. We had a nice day.

I am thankful today for being an American citizen. Sure there are lots of problems with our government and our country but we are still much better off than others. We have our freedom and our government does many things for us that we would not have without them. I am truly blessed.

Thankful Today For

I have decided to write one thing that I am thankful for each day that I write in my blog.

Today I am thankful for my home. For being able to have a nice bed with nice clean sheets to lay my tired body down in. For my shelter from the cold. For the hot water that I can take a shower or bath in. For the furnace and heater that keeps me warm. People often take their homes for granted. Many people today do not have a home or a nice bed. I thank God that I am blessed to have many things like my home that I take for granted.

The news of today is Randy finally got his Utah driver's license. Now he can get his passport because we are going on a cruise to Alaska and will spending some time in Canada.

Following a Family Trend

I guess I have been snoring terribly lately. I have had a cough and congestion in the throat which probably contributes to it. I went to the Dr. the other day. She ordered a blood oxygen saturation test. I slept last night with a device for measuring it on my finger and did notice when I woke up several times during the night that my blood oxygen was as low as 79%. It should never be lower than 88. So either my cold is causing it or have real sleep apnea and in that case I will need an overnight sleep test. I guess this sleep apnea thing is becoming a family trend. I had really high heart rate as well.

Right now Randy is cooking supper. He has been very helpful to me. He probably feels guilty because he gave me this cold. Ha Ha.

Getting on With Life

Lately I have been bogged down by problems that I have brought upon myself. I have been so mixed up with everything and what I have read and what I believe. All I can do now is to continue living like I should and try to prove that I am a good person.

I had a great birthday. The girls took me out to eat and to the Desert Star. We visited and really enjoyed our time together. We want to start getting together more often.

Randy and I have both been under the weather but he was worse than I was. We are doing better now. Randy is on a new drug called Wellbutrin and he is feeling so much better with his anxiety problems. He has had these problems for a long time due to things happened a long time ago. He deserves to be happy after what he has had to go through in his past. I can say that he makes me very happy with his companionship.

I want to wish all my family a Happy New Year and I hope you have good health and many blessings. We are all different but we are all the same as well; Children of God.

A Different New's Year's Tradition

When I was little, my mother did something that I don't think any other family did; she had my brother and I hang just one small sock in the hallway for the Little New Year to place a small trinket in. I added something special to New Year's other than just the staying up late and games etc. On New Year's morning we would go to our sock and we would usually find a small gift some jacks or small bottle of cologne or a little necklace (for me of course) and my brother would usually get a small metal truck small toy gun. We would also get one piece of candy. It was exciting because there is a big let-down after Christmas and this made the holidays even more special.

On New Year's Eve, my mother would wait until midnight and open up the back door so the old year could leave and hurriedly open the front door so the Little New Year could come in. I actually thought I saw an old man with a white beard and cane wearing a long nightshirt go out the back door, and then in came The Little New Year with his diaper on and floating through the air. Funny huh! The old Year was known as Father Time.

This New Year's Eve sucked. When you get old, it's not the same. You know how you are supposed to kiss at midnight? Well both of us fell asleep before the midnight hour came. I was awakened by fireworks but then I just drifted off again.
