Bend Oregon, Sun River

Randy and I traveled to Bend Oregon and then on to Sun River Oregon and met up with Rob and Jen and family. We stayed in a home Jen rented there. We enjoyed a good time with them. The house had cable TV and a hot tub. We visited trendy restaurants and went to a High Desert Museum and a volcanic national monument. There were lots of bike trails to ride on for bicycles and swimming pools with wave pools and slides. Horse back riding and river kayaking were available too. Jennifer and her family did many of these events but Randy and I just enjoyed the scenery and the hot tub and the restaurants and the atmosphere. There were chipmunks there that actually climbed up our legs. There were deer, mostly does with their young offspring and still sporting spots, they came right near the house we were staying in. We also saw a cute little lizard. This place is very trendy. It is a kind of a tourist trap with a complete village and markets. We spent the first night in Ontario Oregon. On the way back we stayed in Reno NV and then in Ely NV. We enjoyed going home through lots of small towns with very different type of buildings. The town of Austin NV had 5 churches and they only have a population of less than 200 people. On the way up, we saw lots of farms and deserts and of course on the way back there were lots of farms and deserts as well.

Camping Experience

While camping we had lots of cool experiences with little critters and some not so little. We had gray squirrels and a chipmunk and humming birds. The little critters came right up to us and ate unsalted peanuts from the ground near us. A doe came down and ate peanuts too. She was not afraid of us. After she ate, she laid down in the grass and cooled herself in the shade. She stayed there for some time. We had a wonderful experience during our camping stay.
