Cats and More Cats: His, Mine and Ours

These are our cats: Annie,
Dory, Gimli, Sonny, Megan, March, Bud, Blue and Wellington. Annie just came to us a few days ago. She is a Siamese/Burmese mix. She looks a lot like Bud only she is much fatter and darker in color. She is about two years old. We just had to get her after seeing how pretty she was. She adjusted immediately to our home and other cats. Dory was Matt's cat and was afraid of their dogs. We took her in. It took her about two weeks to adjust but now she is doing fine. She is black with big yellow eyes. She is about 2 years old. Gimli is my little boy who is about 4 years old. I got him from Marty. He is a small tabby who loves me a lot. He likes to sleep on the cable box. Sonny is my little blue point Siamese. He is about 1 year old. He is very beautiful with a nice soft coat. He purrs really loud. He likes the sink and computers. I got him after losing Cesar last June. Megan is white with charcoal markings. She is kind of shy and skittish. She is very pretty and purrs loud. She likes to lie on Randy and dig her claws in. She belonged to him first and now is here in Utah with all of us. Her age is unknown. Mr. March is another of Randy's cats. He likes to get in the sink and have water drip on him. He is a big tabby. He likes to lay on Randy. His age is unknown. Budman, Bud for short, is a dark Siamese/Burmese mix. He is our special needs cat. He is very skinny but eats a lot. He has trouble with his hind legs. He loves to sleep between us in the bed. He has had some health problems. He is Randy's special boy. He is probably really old but is still hanging on. We don't know for how long. He was Randy's cat in Arizona also. Then we have Blue Boy, Blue for short. He is a long haired Russian Blue. He is quite shy and very loveable. He loves Megan and she loves him. He likes to sleep on Randy's pillow and he likes to suck his paw as a pacifier for comfort. We don't know his age. Randy got all his cats from a resue over a year ago. Last is Wellington. What a brat! He loves people. He likes to be teased and he likes to tease. He was my cat but he has really taken to Randy. Monica gave him to me. He had been mistreated and used to be kind of mean and scared of things. Now he just loves everyone. He used to just love Alex. He likes men. He likes to sleep in the bathroom sink and is an escape artist and will try to run outside each and every time we open the door. He is 7 years old.We love all our cats. They are much quieter than kids or dogs and really good companions to us. Randy cleans up after them and our home is probably cleaner than most homes. We are probably crazy for having so many cats but we do take good care of them and we they have a good home with us. We should have a cat farm so we could help all needy cats.

Brownie

Poor old Brownie, our old 1989 Chevy Silverardo. She took us lots of places and pulled our trailer behind her much of the time. Once she was new and shiny. When Alex died, she must have been sad. Nobody to driver her and keep her in shape. I gave her to Tammy. I had hoped they could use her and they did for a time. I wanted them to keep her but they brought her back here and with her just sitting there in the back, it was sad. She would have to be put out to the wrecking yard soon.

Randy loves to work on cars and he wanted to get Brownie into working shape. So he is buying her and going to get up to snuff I hope. He might even give her a new paint job. I guess she needs to be painted brown again so she can still be called BROWNIE.

Belated Birthday

We girls had a good time on Saturday going out to celebrate mine and Monica's belated birthdays. It was nice to visit, go to the movie and eat together. It ended all too quickly. We need to do things together more often. Life is short and you only live once. Somebody needs to organize this so we can be together about once month or at least every other month. Any volunteers?

Winter!

We are really having a hard winter this year. I hate it! Can't wait for Spring and to travel. Randy and I want to go to Seattle in April. My cruise is in March.

Randy and I have been having a good time together. He likes checking out all the food stores we have here. We went to Macey's yesterday and he says he's going shopping there from now on. We really enjoy watching TV together and movies. Though he has been a little depressed with this dark gray weather, I think he is doing better now. If can just get his stupid medical/medicare fixed then things would be much better. The cats are fine and have pretty much stopped fighting with each other. Dory, Matt's cat has fit right in now. It took her some time though.

I had to have my heater/air conditioner fixed in my bedroom and it cost me over $700! It seems the coil went out. There is always something. With it being so cold, my utilities are very high. Randy pays half of the utilities and food and everything for the cats. He cleans up after them and he is a neat freak. He is a morning person which I am not so when I get up, he has a lot already done. I am not used to having a guy clean up like he does.

Friday Birthday

Randy and I went to eat at Magleby's and to a movie called 30 DAYS OF NIGHT. Not very good but better than some. It was a vampire movie. Thanks to all my kids who remembered my birthday and called me and gave me gifts. I love you all. I cannot believe I am 64. Next year I will have to go on Medicare!

I got new boots and shoes. It has been snowing so much here that I had to get boots. I hate winter so far. I think it is making Randy depressed being from Arizona and all. He is doing better with his depression but now he has what appears to be the stomach flu. We were going to go SLC on Sat and eat at The Black Angus but he can't eat anything, only drink liquids. He has now gotten a new Dr. here in American Fork and likes him. I had to get a new Dr. too. I really liked my old one. But he is leaving to be on the staff of a new hospital. So I got a new Dr. in American Fork too and she is Chinese. Her name is Yung Ling. I have not gone to her yet. I will on Tuesday.

We have 8 cats now!! Randy couldn't resist getting Dory, Matt's cat. She was so afraid of their dogs that she hid downstairs all the time. Randy couldn't stand that, so she is now here. She's really good and only comes out in the morning. The rest of the time she stays in her bed at the top of the stairs.

Randy's cat Bud has a abscess. We had to take him in to get it drained. He has special needs. He shakes all the time and is very skinny even though he eats a lot. He walks like he is lame and he seems to have a problem with his hips. He sometimes does not use the litter box and sometimes he sprays. The vet said he had a little problem with his kidneys and his pancreas but nothing serious whatever that means. No diabetes. His teeth are bad but Randy can't afford to have them fixed. He keeps hanging on and I guess he will live until he dies. He is Randy's favorite because he is so needy.

Matt and Kelly's Dogs

He has 3 dogs: Mater, a Blue Healer, Steiner, a Poodle Maltese and Guido, a Min Pin (Miniature Doberman) Min Pin is so small you can barely see him in the photos. Much smaller than a cat. Steiner looks like Sparky.

Fun Friday

Randy and I went to Thanksgiving Point. We ate at the Harvest Restaurant which is an upscale restaurant. We had tenderloin steak, mashed potatoes and a baked tomato stuffed with vegetables. We had dessert too. I had the creme burle. Randy had apple cobbler.

We then went to the dinosaur museum and to a 3-D movied called SEA MONSTERS. It was a very enjoyable Friday.

New Year

For New Year's Eve we just stayed home, watched a movie and ate snacks. For New Year's Day we are just staying home. That's what old folks do I guess. We like to do things during the week days and avoid the crowds.

Here are some photos I took from my new digital camera.

Christmas Come and Gone

Christmas just isn't the same since I have gotten older. Some of the reasons that I don't like Christmas is the cold, the hassle, feeling like I have to love Christmas like others do or I am a Scrooge, the commerialism, being alone etc. Things I really like about Christmas is the music, my family, the lights etc.

I did have a pretty good Christmas all in all this year. I wasn't alone and I didn't have much hassle this year as I kept it very simple. Tammy and her family visited Christmas Eve. I enjoyed that a lot. I got gift cards and theater tickets, perfume, towels, a Precious Moment doll, books, calendars, candy and a digital camera from Randy. We went out to eat at a Chinese place (like in The Christmas Story) and we went to see Sweeney Todd. I have seen the non-musical version on TV. This new version with Johnny Depp is a musical and has very little diaglog. For the story I liked the non-musical one better but the musical one is a real art movie. So I liked them both.

Anyway, I am glad Christmas is over. I don't like winter and I know there is a lot more to go. I hate the heat too so I guess I will never be satisfied with the weather.

The lady we stayed with in Santa Rosa has a sister who is a famous writer. Her name is http://www.ellynbache.com/
